PROPOSED MEGA MOSQUE FOR NEWHAM DETAILS
The There are plans to build a 40,000 seater Mega Mosque close to West Ham Station. This compares in size to West Ham United's stadium which holds 35,000.
This will be the largest Mosque in Europe the centre will take up to 50,000 square metres at Abbey Mills in West Ham.
The mosque is expected to have a capacity of 40,000.
The site will include:
A Muslim school with youth facilities, A library, massive dining area, Offices and a exhibition zone, residential accommodation
millions of translucent tiles that will be illuminated at night
Inbuilt system for recycling water and internal tidal power plant with combined heat and power units using CHP and photovoltaic technology
wind turbines built into the minarets, solar panels to generate energy
An Islamic garden with a built area of 180,000m2
50,000 square metres of interior surface space on which the entire text of the Koran will be written
