Press Release
Campaign against "Olympics
mega-mosque" hits YouTube
For Immediate Release: 26 Febuary 2007
"Let the real debate begin" says Cllr Alan Craig
Today Alan Craig, leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance group on Newham Council, launched on YouTube the first of a series of videos arguing the case against the proposed huge 'Olympics mega-mosque' at West Ham in Newham, east London.
"Islamic sect Tablighi Jamaat, the promoters of the mosque, have recently upped their game," said Cllr Craig. "They have appointed new professional advisors including Indigo Public Affairs, the PR agency, to promote their case. Opponents of the mosque must now get the powerful arguments against the mosque out into the public arena".
Alan Craig has launched his first introductory video on YouTube, which can be found at MeetAlanCraig . This first video lasts 4 minutes.

He plans further videos on YouTube at weekly intervals. These will cover topics such as community impact of the mosque; terrorism, jihad and the mosque; social inclusion claims of the mosque; Saudi funding; impact on the 2012 London Olympics; and the mosque as Islamic sacred space.
The mosque site is half a mile from the main Olympic stadium. It is expected to be built in stages from an initial capacity of 10,000 to an ultimate capacity of over 40,000, making it one of the biggest mosques in the western world. It is also a mile and a half from Cllr Craig's home and from the electoral area (ward) he represents.
"I warmly respect Muslims as my fellow-citizens, and there will be no Islamophobia, insults or smears from me," said Alan Craig. "The hard facts will do the talking and I plan to show that the hard facts alone will construct a cast-iron case against the building of this mosque.
"It's time to do some democracy over this objectionable project. I'll welcome public debate on YouTube or anywhere else. This mosque must be stopped - so let the real debate begin."
