Welcome to the official website of the
Christian Peoples Alliance in Newham!

In the local elections in May 2006 the Christian Peoples Alliance in Newham made great strides. We took all three seats in Canning Town South ward and became one of the official Opposition groups on Newham Council.

This was a very significant achievement for two reasons: Firstly, CPA now represents the neighbourhood that the London Research Centre categorised as the most deprived ward in all Greater London's 33 boroughs - and one of the most deprived in the country. CPA stands with and speaks for the marginalised, the voiceless and the poor.

Second, records show that until CPA came along the Canning Town South area had been solidly and continuously Labour for almost 100 years, and indeed the first-ever Labour MP Keir Hardie was elected here in 1892. CPA is a young pioneering party that, David-like, can take on the Labour Party goliath in its own back yard, and win!

CPA is also a Christian Democratic party so we don't fit easily in the conventional left/right political categories. We stand foursquare in the tradition of the churches' social teaching and biblical values. This means we are strong on social justice, strong on promoting the interests of the powerless and vulnerable, and strong on family values and pro-life concerns. Confident in our Christian beliefs,
we work willingly for people of all faiths and of none.

We invite you to look around our website to learn more about us. Meet our two new councillors, Simeon Ademolake and Denise Stafford. Give us your feedback with any comments or suggestions.

We aim to punch well above our weight in Newham so watch this space for future developments.

Enjoy!
